Camden Pest Control News:
Calls for pest control on the increase in Camden by kurt on 04/04/2013 |
2013 has seen a substantial increase in calls from residents of the Camden area needing pest control services. In fact we have had an increase of about a third compared to the first quarter of last year. It may have something to do with the unusually mild summer of 2012 and the below average march temperatures. This has led to an above average number of rat and mouse control calls throughout the area. Many callers are surprised to find rodents invading their homes, and several have lived in the Camden area for many years without ever encountering these little visitors. It is not entirely clear why the increase, but the weather almost certainly has a role to play. Very strangely, we have also had an increase in calls for ant control. The calls for ant control started in February and are on the increase day by day. The current weather conditions are certainly not conducive to ant activity. On closer analysis and inspections of the properties, we have noticed an alarming trend. The ants we are being called out for are not garden ants, but rather the ant species is known as argentine ants. Argentine ants have been in the Camden area for several years, but the population seems to have exploded this year. Fortunately for Camden residents, we are a team of dedicated pest controllers specialising in all aspects of pest control and are on hand to take your calls and solve your pest issues fast and effectively. We have also recently set up a team of pest controllers who specialise exclusively in rat and mouse proofing properties against these rodents. If you have a rodent problem, call us now for a permanent solution to your rat or mouse infestation. RAT And MOUSE proofing throughout Camden. |

Cockroaches are an insect from a larger sub group called blattodea. Cockroaches are considered a pest in European culture, however, in previous cultures throughout history cockroaches have been found to have healing properties. In fact, in China to this day cockroach stew is considered to be an intricate and delicate meal. It is often eaten with vegetables and rice and the protein in the Cockroaches is said to be very healthy. Mice in Camden cheap store by paulg on 02/04/2012 |
A cheap pound style stores in Camden town was recently fined £14,000 + costs due to a mice infestation. An investigation by environmental health officials found dozens bags and boxes of dried foods had been chewed by mice. The storeroom of the premises had been an issue of an infestation a year previous and was voluntarily closed by the owners to try and deal with the problem. The first mice infestation was dealt with promptly and efficiently, but due to staff negligence and bad hygiene the mice returned a year later. A council official said “I hope that the penalties imposed by the court in this case show the consequences of not having good hygiene procedures so that local people and visitors feel confident buying items in Camden’s many fantastic food outlets.” It is always a problem for businesses in central London to keep pests at bay because of the way our city is. That is not to say we are dirty, just that with the amount of visitors that come to London from all over the country, and the world, there is unfortunately plenty of food waste and food debris all over the place, even the places the cleaners can’t see or reach. As much as most companies and businesses have a controlled measure of cleaning and pest control implemented there are still some that try to evade this by doing their own pest control. If these premises are kept in a good state of hygiene then there is not really much of a problem. But no matter how clean you think your business is, due to the speed of today’s world there will always be food for pests. The long and short of the story is, if you don’t want your business heavily fined, or worse closed down, keep it clean and use professional pest control. |
Rats in Camden parks by paulg on 28/02/2012 |
When you think of green spaces in Camden you may not think that there are that many of them. There are more than you think. We all enjoy a leisurely walk in the park on a lovely sunny day, having our lunch sitting on the grass or walking the dog in them. This is the last place you want to find a colony of rats. But that is a lot more probable than you know. Some local residents are finding this out in some parks of Camden. Despite park users knowing about the problem, there are no warning signs. It seems that grounds workers that look after the parks do know about the rats but are having trouble getting on top of the problem. They may have spread into surrounding gardens and houses. Rats breed at a quick and vast rate, and spread quickly, so if you see some please inform Pest Control ASAP. There are measures you can take to help prevent the spread of rats in your area. The first thing to do is make sure you tidy up. Don’t leave any discarded food rubbish in the open. This includes food wrappers, as the scent of your unfinished lunch will attract rodents. When and where possible, try not to leave your household waste out overnight as rats are nocturnal and will do their food foraging mostly at around 2-3 am when it is quietest. |
